BLUE RIDGE SPRING DINGER
A Spring baseball event for ballplayers 60+, 65+, 70+ & 75+
A Spring baseball event for ballplayers 60+, 65+, 70+ & 75+
The Blue Ridge Spring Dinger event is the brainchild of Karen Marcinkoski and Rob Giffen, conceived after receiving an invitation from JD Hinson to visit Bob Lewis Ballpark in Enka, North Carolina in 2018. Built to host youth baseball and softball teams for local team games and tournaments, we saw the potential for older ball players to experience the thrill of hitting the home runs that evade them on most regulation fields at their stage in life.
What began as a week-long event for 6 teams of sixty-plus-year-olds has grown exponentially. Now hosting three-day tournaments for three divisions of 60+, and divisions for 65+, 70+ and 75+ and expanding to two weeks, participation has made the Blue Ridge Spring Dinger a popular event. The complex is top-notch with turf infields, quality grass outfields, ample parking, a concession stand and incredible views. The Asheville area location provides many off-the-field opportunities for shopping, sightseeing, dining and attractions.
Our hope is to be able to continue offering a quality baseball experience, as well as searching for ways to expand this event and create other equally gratifying tournaments for older ball players to continue playing the game they love.
Thank you for your interest, patronage, and for making our event one that we enjoy as much as you do!
